i have had sims 2 double deluxe for two years, but i used to play it on my old desktop. i havent played it in months, and when i went to play it on my new laptop i entered all my information (i still have the registration code) and when it was loading it froze at 22% and said the part it was stuck on failed, and that i had to retry. after that it was loading extremely slowly and i got to about 50% last night before it crashed. i dont know if this has happened to anyone else but if so please help!!

Sounds like your CD has been damaged. I would suggest getting a digital version from a peer2peer website and then entering your code (this is completely legal) most of the times a small scratch will prevent any sort of installation to the hard drive. If you are unable to install the game after cleaning the disk and or trying a torrent then it may be an issue with your RAM.
