So basically, with al lthe newer games about to be coming out, i want to keep up, i've made a few easier upgrades, but am terrible at finding out incompatibilities, and all that stuff, my main concern is upgrading my CPU, then my GPU, ive upgraded my gpu once from a hd 5750 to a hd 6850 and from a 300w Power supply, to a 600w.

Solution
What is the "600W" PSU? Assuming it is something decent, of the single upgrades you could make you'd probably get the most benefit from something like a GTX760.

its a coolermaster, and im just kinda scared the 2.6 cpu is gonna make the new gpu bottleneck.
Would a gtx760 even be compatible with my motherboard?
sorry for being a mega noob heh :D
and thank you so much for the reply

CM? Oh no, if it is an "extreme" anything, it is BAD; overrated, inefficient, and dangerous to attached components: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Cooler-Master-eXtreme-Power-Plus-600-W-Power-Supply-Review/1034/9
I would not attach a graphics card any more demanding than the one you have now, until you replace the PSU. A Seasonic-built XFX or Superflower-built Rosewill Capstone are likely your best choices on a budget. The modular Corsair CX line is also good, but not the non-modular ones. Although CWT builds them all for Corsair, the non-modular ones use some inferior Samxon capacitors that don't like heat and have a reputation for early failure. The modular ones use all-Japanese capacitors, and are fine.

hey man, so assuming i do get a better psu, what cpu would you recommend me getting with the gtx 760
and keeping in mind, i'm not trying to upgrade my mother board atm, because i dont want to go through the stress of reassembling the whole thing.

Anyways this upgrade should be good enough for you. I mean your CPU still is just a little less than the FX 6300 which is a very good CPU, so just upgrade the graphics card other than that everything looks fine to me.

see, but right now currently i can run bf3 on near ultra settings 30-50fps, but in games like arma 2 or dayz mod i get 15-20 fps. and most games coming out currently are requiring at least 2.6ghz or higher, being the main reason i want to upgrade the cpu.

You already have the best processor for that motherboard. There is no way in which it can be upgraded more.

You would need to get new Motherboard + CPU

But for real gaming you would need to upgrade your GPU too.

So for 350 dollars. This is the best upgrade you can do right now.

Another thing to remember, if you replace your motherboard, you'll need a new copy of Windows. The OEM version that came with your Gateway will not install on another system. That's another $80 right there.
You have DDR3 RAM, so you could re-use that.
