Hi, I'm in the search of a new monitor. Here's my requirements:
MUST Have:
Full HD resolution (either 1920x1080 or 1920x1200; higher res is alright too)
Price range $200-$300
Optional:
IPS screen
Not important:
Esthetics
Connectivity (I have D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI; and I don't mind using any of them)
Usage:
For schoolwork and occasional games and movies
I'm a bit confused with some of monitors' specifications. Like, what are the minimum value of contrast ratio, brightness level, refresh rate, and response time of a good monitor?
Currently I'm looking at Dell UltraSharp U2312HM which ranges around $200-$250. I've read some reviews about it and they're generally positive.
Also, where's the best place to get monitors in Melbourne, Australia?

Edit: Just found another option, Asus VS247H-P. This seems to be as good as the Dell one but with lower price.
