Hi, I'm building an AMD machine and I had originally decided on the FX-6300. However, I have seen that the top line APUs are around the same price (A10-6800K). I am going to be doing some gaming, but nothing to intense, and I am getting a dedicated card, so the integrated graphics don't matter too much. Which between these two would be better power-wise and are there any other CPU recommendations for around $150 or less?

Solution
The FX 6350, if you can find it.

Don't bother with the 100-series FX processors, they SUCK. Unless you're doing something on a very tight budget which you absolutely HAVE to have eight cores for, the 6300 will always be better.
If you're getting an integrated card, the 6300 would blow the A10 out of the freaking water. APUs are not strong processors, and I don't understand why people keep putting A10s in builds with dedicated cards. The A4s I can understand as budget options, but when you could have a six core with about double the oomph for the same price...

I was under the impression that that the A10 was an octacore CPU, but it's quad-core. I guess I saw a different one instead. Would the fx6300 be the most viable option for around $150? What about the fx-8150 for example?

Awesome, I think I'll stick with my original choice then. Thanks for the help.
