I'm an interior architecture student and I have to have a new laptop. I'm trying to decide between a Macbook Pro and a Malibal Lotus P150EM. I'll be using programs like AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.

The Malibal:
Display: 15.6" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit Matte Display
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3210M, 3MB L3 Cache, 2.5-3.1GHz
Memory: (8GB) 8192MB, PC3-12800/1600MHz DDR3 - 2 SO-DIMM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670MX (Kepler) 3GB GDDR5
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300
Optical Drive Bay: 8X Multi DVD+/-R/RW RAM Dual-Layer Drive
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® 7 Ultimate; 64-bit
Wireless: Internal 802.11B/G/N LAN and Bluetooth Card
(These are the minimum requirements I MUST have)

I want to have a good laptop. Everyone has a Macbook Pro but is that really better? A lot of my friends say they like it because it's "cool", but performance is more important to me.
If you have any other suggestions (not exceeding $1300) please feel free to share them.

The malibal is definitely better and i will explain why. The malibal has an i5 running at around 3.1ghz which is great for a laptop. The macbooks can not reach this speed because they are so slim to the point where some feature can not even be put in like an optical drive for example. The Malibal also has a gtx 650m I believe which is not only going to do you well for designing you will also be able to play video games, and do all your school work at ridicoulous speeds and with great ease and efficiency. The Malibal is definitely the way to go! I hope this helped!

For $1,300, based on your spec's, the Malibal Lotus is hands down a better machine then a Macbook Pro. Better, display/process/storage/graphics card.
