1080p vs 1600p

I was wondering which monitor I should buy, 1080p, or 1600p

1600p
More pixels is more better. :p 

EDIT: messed that up, 1600p is bigger. Used to the 1440p way of referring too it.

Well, 1600p is better if both monitors are same in spec - i.e. if for instance both monitors are LED, IPS, 5ms, have the same monitor size, etc.

It also depends on your usage scenario - i.e. gaming, movie, web surfing, workstation/CAD, photo editing. For instance, if you were using it for photo editing and the 1080p is IPS and the 1600p is a TN monitor, I would then recommend the 1080p IPS as it has a much better color gamut and contrast, than a 1600p TN monitor. However, if you have a 25" 1600p TN workstation monitor used for CAD, and you don't care for color accuracy, the 1600p is the one for you as it has more (vertical) production space.

So, it's not all in the resolution alone, other factors can play into the comparison.
