I am having an issue with random fps drops in skyrim. I have put the shadow settings to low and turned all other settings to medium-low. I also am getting the lag almost anywhere, i.e out in the open no where near a town congested with people.
the renderer info reads as:

Renderer Device Information:
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M
nvumdshim.dll
RenderPath :BSSM_SV_3_0
PSversion : 300
VSversion : 300
VStarget : vs_3_0
PStarget : ps_3_0
PS2xtarget : ps_3_0
maxPS20inst : 512
3.0 Support : yes
3.0 Lighting : yes
Nonpowerof2textures yes
FP16ARGB blending yes
FP16ARGB filtering : no
Bloom lighting : no
Refraction : yes
2.0 hairw : yes
SLI mode : no
NVapi enabled : yes
Multisample Type : 0
Transparency MS : no
HW Thread Count : 4

and i have 8 gb ddr3 ram, i7-2630qm @ 2ghz speed (8 cpus) as well as nvidia geforce gt 525m 1.5gb card
I dont understand why the game lags for no reason, and then it seems that the npcs voice starts to crackle kind of like static noise. The only way i found to "fix" this is by continously saving every 2-3 minutes or loading a previous save. I have patch 1.9 of skyrim and dawnguard installed

Are you running any mods for Skyrim that may be causing problems? If so, they may have glitches in the code that could cause this, or they may be conflicting with other mods as well.

The only thing that I had done to the vanilla game was update it to patch 1.9 and then get dawnguard dlc. Like it has dawnguard.bsa and dawnguard.esm as part of the dlc. But other than this 1 dlc, there are no mods whatsoever downloaded.

Did the games play fine before you installed the patch and dawnguard? Does it play smoothly if you lower the settings further?

Your system may also lack power for great performance. Your CPU has 4 cores, and 8 threads (not 8 CPUs) and is clocked at 2.0Ghz. I'd expect it to have a turbo clock higher than that and it may be the lack of boost/turbo that is causing hickups. Gaming laptops pretty much must be used plugged in, and on a flat solid surface to insure good air flow and power in order to maintain high CPU speeds.

Your GPU is also not gaming grade. It is a slow GPU and is not going to give great results.

You should monitor your CPU usage and clocks while gaming, and you may do the same for the GPU. It may help you pin point the problem.

I checked the "Can i play it" and had the program check my hardware to see if its above the recommended and it said that i exceeded every requirement to run skyrim. I went and did the auto detection for skyrim in the options and it put most things on high setting, with a few on medium. My game used to run perfectly fine when i ran it before, it's only recently that it's been acting up which is confusing me. How can I monitor my cpu usage and clocks during gaming? (same with gpu). I think I have an older driver on my gpu, but that was only since like 2012...so i dont think its too old.

It sounds like you are either not plugged or have bad air flow. Maybe you have a virus problem. If it worked fine before, it should still. That said, you still won't get great results at those settings on that system.

The most common issue with laptops is the lack of air flow, causing over heating, which results in the system down clocking. If the vents on the laptop are clocked, or the HSF in side the laptop get clogged with dust bunnies, it will overheat and down clock.

Of course viruses, virus scanners, back utilities, even some of those "My clean PC" type software can be running in the back ground gobbling up resources and slowing stuff down.
