Hi I play quite a few games and would like to start recording gameplay video to post on you-tube and for clan strategy meetings but the problem a am encountering is that when i use fraps to record the game play I take a rather large fps hit (goes from adaptive v-sinc's 60 down to as low as 40) leading to the game that im trying to record to become not only displeasing to me but also compromises my in game performance. This has lead to to seek out some sort of system for recording gameplay that will not subject my system to a load that breaks 60fps frame lock yet is still able to record at my native resolution (5760x1080) The only slots that I have free at the moment are a pci-Ex16 with 4 data lanes and a x1 slot as well as some usb connecters. Incase somebody suggests it, no. I'm not going to lower game quality settings. Overclocking is also not a option as it has been done to my hardware's limit already. Thanks for your time.

@1 - Its she if you are referring to me.

@2 - You can record videos at 30 FPS and also limit gameplay itself at 30 FPS as I said above. Just tick the options I mentioned and your actual recorded FPS will not go beyond 30 as well as your real time FPS.

30 FPS is best for video recording and 95% of all youtube gameplay videos are at either 29.95 FPS or 30 FPS.
Fraps = 1 minute video (Full HD) = 2.5 GB

In your case = 7.5 GB

Considering you record 1 mission of average 30 minutes = 225 GB

However you can compress it without loss in quality with Advanced Video Compressor (That is what I use) to around 80 MB.
Much recommended but you need another hard drive to keep raw files first.

As far as frame rates matter, record them in 30 FPS (In fraps), check "Half Size" and check "Lock Frame Rates While Recording"
That way things would go at 30 FPS smoothly and for comparison, a full motion picture you watch (Movie) runs at 23.95 FPS.
