Several Problems After Graphics Card Upgrade

Several weeks ago, my graphics card, a Galaxy GeForce GTX 570, unexpectedly burst into flames, forcing me to upgrade it to an MSI GeForce GTX 660.

The actual fire was very brief and does not seem to have done any damage to the surrounding components, but I've been having several problems.

After upgrading, the computer will occasionally not "wake up" from sleeping, the monitor staying dark, while the computer, mouse, and keyboard light up. Rarely, the screen will go dark at random moments.

Also, most of the time, when waking from sleep, in Firefox, the scroll button icon disappears, and sometimes the tabs will be transparent.

I've tried reinstalling the graphics drivers, and they're up to date, and I've reinstalled Firefox, but none of it seems to have done any good. I really have no idea what could be causing these problems.

The hardware stats are:
Intel Core i7-2600K
ASUS P8P67 EVO Motherboard
120GB SSD, 1TB HDD & 2TB HDD
16GB RAM

Solution
i think the fire damaged the pci-e slot, it's the only thing i can think of. that could be the reason why pc doesnt wake up and why it goes dark sometimes, it could be the connection to the slot.

If that's the case, could I fix it by moving the graphics card to another slot, or should I replace the motherboard altogether?

yes, move it to a different slot that you haven't used before (as i know your mobo evo has 3 of them) and try running the gpu for a time and see if you have the same problem. if you still get the same problems then it could be a software problem, because i don't think that one gpu could fry all 3 slots.

good luck!

Would moving the card cause any issues or conflicts?

Well, so far it's only been asleep twice, once by me, once automatically, it came back both times, but the trouble with Firefox persists. It worked the first time, but the second time the scroll button wasn't working, the maximize/minimize/close buttons were gone, and the top bar was completely transparent.

None of these problems occur in other programs, only Firefox.

I've already done that twice, first over the existing installation, then a clean installation.

Tonight I decided to try resetting Firefox, which didn't seem to go too well, after Firefox restarted, it stopped responding, and my whole computer froze, forcing me to restart.

When it restarted, the keyboard and mouse lights went on and off several times, and then the computer ran Chkdisk on drive E: (my external hard drive, where I store all my documents and pictures), and found no problems. Windows Update also had updates to install. After that, it restarted again, installed the updates, and came up as usual.

I don't know how the Firefox reset went since I haven't had a chance to test it, but I'll get back to you on that.

Yeah, I've thought about that, and I've tried Chrome, but I'm just not used to it.

Hopefully this has gotten the not waking up from sleep problem solved, it hasn't done that yet since I've changed it, and hopefully it won't at all. I don't want to speak too soon, though.

Well, I thought that had solved the problem, but today the computer went to sleep automatically and wouldn't wake back up, all the lights came on, and the computer made it's usual sounds, but the monitor would not come up.

The problems currently only seems to happen when the computer goes to sleep automatically.
