Internet - more than one router?

Hey guys,

Ive recently moved in to my new student house with a few friends, with myself and another owning gaming PC's.

The problem is we have only one router (in my room) for the house and there are no ethernet ports in any of the rooms (only ADSL phone line ports), meaning only I can use a wired connection.

Is it possible to get a second router using the same broadband line and set it up in another room? Or is there a way to use the ADSL phone port to connect to his PC?

Cheers,
Joe

what you do with those adapters is plug the adsl router into one and then plug pcs around the house into others and it will network them using the power cables in the house so you can keep your router in your room.

check if you have VDSL2 bt infinity in the area.

Ah I see, great. Now would this reduce the connection speed? As in would there be a noticeable decrease is in downloads (mb/s)?

It says on the BT website that my area is eligible for BT Infinity. Would I just had to get a technician in to do all the wiring in the rooms if we wanted ethernet ports?

bt would not wire in Ethernet, they only deal with internet to the first socket in your house, with bt infinity they will also want you to have the modem router plugged into the first socket in your house so you wont be able to have the router in your room so would need to use something else to wire the house like the powerline adapters, also the adapters are not bad and tend to run faster than your internet connection, jsut make sure you dont plug them into a surge protector or it kills the signal so only plug them directly into a socket.
