As we all know the XBONE and the PS4 will have 8 cores on them. It makes me think that games will start to be optimized for 8 cores. I just don't want to make the wrong decision. Which one should I go for?
I suggest fx8350 (i've buoght one week ago) for one simply reason. Cause console, many graphic engine are under rewriting for multicore support
The future, ihmo, is for multi core instead of brute force IPC

I bought Xeon E3-1230v3 which is basically i7 4770 without integrated Gpu for 4670k price. It will be faster than i5's when games start using more threads. As for overclocking, Stock i7 is more than plenty for now so i don't see much of a point to try getting even more power out of it. Plus Overclocking needs a good cooling and etc. At the end of the day overclocked i5 will cost more than 1230v3 and when we will really need more threads i5 won't do anything good.
That's just my opinion not a fact so feel free to disagree.
Most current games show no significant improvement when run with 4 cores compared to 2 cores. In the next year or two I predict games will slowly utilize 4 cores, but the time when 6 or 8 cores is needed is still over 2 years away. You'd have to change CPU by then anyways. Until then, the strong single core performance of the i5 is unbeatable for gaming.
