Hi ,
Spec : GTX 650 1 gb
intel Q8300 @ 2.5ghz
Resolution: 1366x 768

The Gta IV is laggy ....
Here the main thing is i hav only 3 gb RAM (DDR2)
And my motherboard is intel DG31PR and i think it supports only 2 GB , but by updating BIOS it supports to 4 GB....
Is the reason for laggy is of LESS RAM...????
OR OLD socket CPU (LGA 775)???? (want 2 go for new? )
thnx in advnc

GTA IV is badly coded for the PC so it lags on the best of hardware, adding RAM won't help

The biggest issue I've found with GTA IV Performance on PC is the CPU optimization. It is dreadful and really not optimized for anything beyond the 360 cores. On the GPU side of things the game is really not that complex, I was able to run it with a HD 5450 on 30-40FPS so a 650 should be plenty.

Is your game lagging regardless of graphic intensity? If it does, it's most likely your CPU.

UPDATE: I've just checked the page for the Q8300 and I'm almost certain it is the culprit. It is almost five years old and is obsolete at this point.. it is nowhere near the GTX 650 in terms hardcore gaming viability.

Have you ever considered upgrading your Mainboard & Processor?

It's a Quad but that's not all that matters. The problem is that it's old technology and architecture. Newer dual cores with Hyperthreading can be more efficitent than aged, then-powerful quad cores.
For example, a modern dual core 2.8 ghz with 28nm architecture will be much more efficient than a 5 year old dual core 3.2 Ghz with 45nm architecture, because 28nm architecture is much more efficient than 45nm architecture was.
