Ok so this is the deal, Im trying to find a good card to replace my on board video. I will not be playing games. I will be watching some movies, ie. Netflix, hulu, on my computer screen so not even really a HTPC but just average net surfing and occasionally my wife plays those average flash games on facebook.

I have been reading these boards for some days now and from what I am seeing I can even achieve a basic card like the GT210 or a HD6450. I went a bought the 6450 but it didn't fill my screen. I tweaked the over scan and it filled the screen just fine but sometimes when I would move my mouse to the right of the screen the mouse would get lost out the screen and it took over 5 secs for it to come back. Meaning say you get your mouse and move it all the way to the right of screen. Usually it would stop at the boarder of the screen. With the 6450 the mouse would continue to go out of the screen and when I would move It back to the left it would take about 5 secs for the mouse pointer to appear again.

I know this is stupid but I was driving me insane so I took the card back. Just wondering what are the alternatives or should I just pick up another 6450 since I have been reading the in the low end card Radeon are just better than Nvida?

Thanks

Rob

Im just thinking out loud here. Does the overscan issue only happen with HDMI connection? Meaning if I connect this monitor via DVI to the 6450 will I still have the issue with the card not filling the screen etc? I dont mind how the connection is to be honest I just though the "best' visual quality would be HDMI over DVI. Is there a big difference in the quality of the display between these 2?

Just get another HD6450. Not sure what the issue that you were experiencing was. I would only expect that sort of behavior on a dual screen set up.

Video aspects between HDMI and DVI should be exactly the same. They are both the same digital signal. HDMI just carries audio as well as video. DVI just carries the video.

thanks for the heads up Wolf. I think I am going to go get another 6450 and hope that the other one was just defective. Will report back if there is a problem..
