I have the option to get either for these for the prices listed above. Should I spend the extra $50 for the 4770k? I have heard that the 4770k barely has a noticeable performance difference in comparison to the 3770k. Thanks for any replies! I will chose a best answer!

What MoBo do you have ? The CPUs don't use same socket to if MoBo is existing, must match socket.

If ya have no MoBo, 3770k is a dead end..... road to obsoletesville .... can not upgrade or replace MoBo or CPU down the road w/o replacing both. Just rebuilt two 1156 systems few weeks ago. One blow MoBo, other damaged by by users attempt at new Hyper 212 install. Couldn't reuse CPU as can't buy an 1156 socket MoBo anywhere .... ohhh..... also face possibility of Windows activation if ya change MoBo manufacturs.

Look for combo discounts....

$28 off http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1392841

As for the differences.... SB OCs better than IB which OCs better than HW ..... However as each new generation has better stock performance, by time all is said and done, not a lotta difference

And the differences are bigger than many would like ya to believe

4770k is dead too, road to obsoletesville, no BW for the socket, no new architecture from Intel on a socket until Skylake in 2H 2015...

So, there's really no difference...except $ and a 3770k @ 4.8 is much better than a 4770k @ 4.2

Just an observation:

When comparing Intel to Intel...the 3770k rarely hits 4.8 and it's hard to get it to do that...(despite there being CPU-Z validations on this forum indicating 4.7-4.8 is fairly common).

When people compare AMD to Intel...the 3770k hits 5.0 GHz with almost no issue what-so-ever (despite never having seen a CPU-Z validation indicating anyone here has one at that clockspeed).

Not to argue or be contrary...I just find it funny how the different opinions on the matter always end up in the same threads. You never see anyone comparing Intel's 3rd and 4th Gen architectures say the 3770k hits 5.0 GHz every time, and you never see someone talking about how rarely the 3770k hits 4.8 in a thread talking about AMD and Intel directly.

(this is not aimed squarely at anyone...just wondering if someone could clarify how it is that paradigm exists so predictably and so exclusively)
