I'm looking to build a system that'll be used for work and, possibly, a HTPC.

I picked up a cheap Haswell CPU (i5-4570) when it dropped £26 below it's usual selling price recently on Amazon and so, am going to build my system around that.

As I'll not be into game-playing, a GPU shouldn't be necessary as I've read that Haswell's onboard graphics should be sufficient for a HTPC (although one can be added later if necessary).

The purpose of this thread is to add my components as I start considering buying them in the hope of figuring out early if something isn't compatible or if something else would be a better buy - I almost bought a Z87 board without knowing that the extra expense might not be worth it for a non-K CPU.

Purchased:
i5-4570 CPU
Be Quiet Pure Power L8 530W PSU

Next Purchases
Crucial 128GB M4 SSD - available at £69.90
ASUS H87M-E motherboard - available at £71.77
Fractal Design Define R4 case - available at £77.98

After that, it'll be a week or two before I can afford the next batch of parts. Any thoughts on the above selections?

For the past 4 years, I've just been using a laptop - Intel Core Duo T6600 2.2GHZ. This will be my first build and it should be a good upgrade.

Ah okay. If you're in the US, you probably wouldn't have heard of them. They are a German manufacturer and have been the number 1 PSU in that market every year since 2006. I believe they are now in the US market but have only been there for around 6 months or so.

I read some reviews on websites here in the UK and they appear to be pretty well respected here too.

Based on your original comment, I'd incorrectly thought that you'd heard bad things about them.

Just in case you're interested, or happen to see a good offer locally as they try to break into the US market, here's a sample review: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/psus/1297558/be-quiet-pure-power-l8-530w

Personally, I get comfort when buying components if the warranty is longer than the 1-year standard - and this one offers a 3-year warranty.
