hi, i built a new system about a year and a half ago: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/336928-31-please-critique. now it's time to build another and give the old one to my wife.

i write multi-threaded java programs, but they do not do a lot of number crunching. i will need to run 3 monitors. and i want to keep the price well below $1000.

so i am looking at an amd fx-8350. i would like a very good mobo to go with it and a couple of small (64-128gb) ssds and a graphics card that supports 3 monitors well.

but i see that the Core i5 4670K 3.4GHz Socket LGA 1150 is about the same price. it may have on chip support for 3 monitors (not sure). the benchmark at http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4670K+%40+3.40GHz&id=1921/ indicates that this chip has a bit less performance.

my old i3-2100 with it's 2 ssds is usually fast enough for me unless i am developing for the android. so while i can use some performance upgrade, reliability and a possible upgrade path to a better chip are more imnportant.

any advice will be appreciated.

thanks
