Hello everyone
I have been lingering around these posts for a few weeks now and am ready to build my first HTPC.
Things to know:
Use: XMBC, streaming movies (Amazon, Netflix, HULU etc.) Occasional browsing/surfing the web, and playing movies from a local shared hard drive all 720p and 1080p content all on a 46" HDTV and a 100+" projector screen hopefully something very very quiet
Where: Sonoma county northern Ca.
I don't mind purchasing from multiple sites but would prefer newegg and amazon.
Case: HTPC style box. Don't mind size too much since reading that its much better for airflow.
CPU: your suggestions (decent speed w/ ability to do light multitasking when necessary, im very inpatient so spending extra $ for this sacrafice is worth it for me.
GPU: combo CPU would suffice
Optical drive: none but would like the option to add one in future
Motherboard: something w dual HDMI and can handle 5.1surround sound
Ram: your recommendations
PSU:
Software: will try Linux for the first time
Extras: nice compact HTCP remote w track pad/ball and qwerty
I dont know if I'm missing anything so please help me out w suggestions. I know I can't expect anything too over the top with this budget but I'd prefer having something that will last me a good amount of time so if u have ideas that will bring the cost up a bit I'll definitely consider but obviously the more cost effective is preferred.
Thanks in advance
