Upgraded from a Radeon 5770 HD to a MSI GTX 760 2G. Was told I needed to upgrade my PSU so I did, I got Corsair CX500 (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=76035).(Was told it would work)

Installed everything and it doesn't load some games and is either really really slow. Like 3-4fps.

Specs: Windows 7 -64bit
Mobo: Intel Dg33tl with Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
and 4G Corsair DDR2 gaming Ram.

That power supply is the minimum but should work. Did you connect the 6pin and 6+2pin from the power supply?

Sorry. Things I did.

Reinstalled 3-4 times. Roll backed drivers a couple of times to see if that helped.
Reinstalled Windows 7 and did all updates
Tried old PSU with no luck
Removed power from anything that didn't need it
Cleaned everything from top of bottom
....so ya.

pretty much yea, after what you've done to troubleshoot.

Put your old card back just to check, otherwise it pretty much looks the card is faulty.

Old card works like a dream atm compared to what I tried to do for the last week. So I'll send in a RMA

I sent them the RMA from their site. So I guess I just have to wait and see what happens. Hope I don't have to pay for shipping and all that. I'd be kinda pissed if I had to cause I bought a new PSU because I though my old one couldn't produce enough Amps from the rail, if that wasn't true and spent money on a new PSU when it was the Gfx card all along. ='(

Btw thanks for your help boju. Been a real help.

Had to dig a bit to find out exactly the amp rating and looks like yours is the v3 and provides upto 38amps.

Is minimum requirement but enough for GTX760 (draws 16amps) and rest of the system, but i would hangon to the new psu anyway, would rather a little headroom than scrapping the barrel. CX500 is just to get you by psu, albeit lot of people use it.

Corsair HX/TX 600 to 700 watt psu would be best, 80plus 40+amps on 12v rail.

Thanks again Boju, I will hold on it for sure. The PSU should do the trick easily enough. All that it is hook up to in the Mobo, 2 fans, SDD HD and the card itself. I unplug the CD rom unless I need to use it (which is never). I also don't plan on over clocking it anytime soon as it already should play games easily. I sent it away to RMA today but don't plan on hearing back from them for another week.

@Byogmaingpc, what do you mean by "Clear" the CMOS? It is new, so any hardware or internal gates should be in perfect shape. The only time I would see damage to them is when they are badly overclocked or shorted. (right? or am I thinking of something else?)

cmos when the watch sized battery is removed for 30seconds or the clear cmos button (if motherboard has one - either does the same thing) is pressed will return bios to defaults. Good for if overclocking went wrong or any settings were made to the pcie bus, Byogamingpc thought by removing it may reset everything default in this case.

But if you haven't changed anything at all besides boot priorities and perhaps anything memory related shouldn't need to worry about being a step you should have tried.

It does have a battery but sense everything else is working perfectly atm with the old graphics card I'll skip this step. After everything that has been done I think we can truly rule that the problem lies with the new graphics card itself. I'll post in 2-3 weeks when I get the new one back from Ncixs' RMA. Till then I hope I don't need to post anything else on this forum.

Well after a long time I upgraded the power supply to 750 watts. Easily enough for the graphics card which did come back as working 100% perfectly. Installed in it and it isn't working, still only getting 1-5 fps. So the only thing I can see being the problem is that the Mobo is too old. Dg33tl with a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
