Alright now that ive chosen the parts for my light gaming/video editing desktop next year when i get taxes so I was wondering the pros and cons of 3d and whether or not A highend amd is the way to go or a nividia is the way to go my current impression is that if I buy the most highend amd I can afford I'll get the most performance out of my many but if I get a high end nividia ill sacrifice performance(even without 3d)for 3d I will go the nividia way unless the 3d isnt worth so I was wondering whether or not 3d gaming is worth it and the pros . I and cons Id also like to know the differences of 60hz monitors and 120hz monitors and if the upgrade is worth it

I can't think of any mid to upper price point where an AMD card is going to give a decisive performance advantage. The GTX 760 is every bit as good as anything else in the sub-$350 range, and then you have the GTX 770 at $400.

In any event, you're going to want Nvidia 3D Vision as it has more consistent game support. You do need an Nvidia certified monitor, so be sure to check their hardware compatibility list.

Id rather not get into a graphics card arguement thats another thread and I do know in the event in which I get a Nvidia card the Nvidia combatible monitors

I suspect a fanboy war may start.

But I will say as an AMD fan, that NVidia has better support for 3d.

Sorry, I was puzzled by your comment:
"if I get a high end nvidia ill sacrifice performance"
... which led to my comment that I didn't think you would be sacrificing performance.

You should PM forum user "Bystander", he is the resident expert on 3D Vision setups.

You don't want to use 3D on an AMD setup, it's not up for debate Nvidia 3D is lightyears ahead. Less performance hit, community fixes (now for DX11 games even), more games working without fixes etc. You'll want this if you get a 3D setup. http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/game-list-full.h...

AMD has some catching up to do at the moment, they dropped the pricing on their cards but the Nvidia solutions offer better value pretty much across the board. That will probably change in September though, supposedly AMD are releasing a new series of cards but nothing is confirmed yet.

Across the board? No - not at all.
The low end AMD is still firmly king.
