Good Morning

Ihave 2 hdd's (2TB as my primary windows 8, and 500GB with windows 8 aswell, dualboot, both hard drives are samsung). My aim was to load linux on to the 500GB and dual boot it from the screen that allows you to pick the hard drive/OS.

It used to give me 2 options, Volume 4 (primary os) and Volume 5 (500GB) with both named 'windows 8'. So I booted from the USB and installed it on the 500GB, restarted and the dual boot screen still had 2 'Windows 8' options... When I click on the correct hard drive, it goes and says that the disk needs to be recovered as it cannot be accessed / files not found. So I formatted the drive in my Primary OS and tried again.

This time, I unplugged my 2TB Primary OS, booted from USB, installed onto the 500GB, rebooted and it worked perfectly! So I plugged the 2TB back in, and the Dual Boot Screen then shows me 2 'Windows 8' options again, when I click on the correct hard drive, it says that it needs to be recovered (same error as above).

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Your problem has more to do with the order in which you tried to achieve your objective. You would probably succeed if you installed Linux only on the 500 gig then clean installed W8 on the other drive, having removed all partitions and installed into 'Unallocated Space' That way W8 can create a System Reserved 350 Mb partition for Boot records and Bitlocker (If that is req. in future}

Hi, if I go into boot order, and I boot from the 500GB (Linux) it loads fine, if I boot from the uefi windows boot manager, it loads the windows dual boot and says the drive is corrupt and needs to be repaired, and finally, if I boot from the 2TB, it just has that beeping sound constantly until I restart the pc.

Thanks,
Josh
