User Account issues

Hi, I just purchased a new Windows 8 computer, got it Friday afternoon 8/9/13. I have finally gotten past several other issues.

After finally fixing a plethora of "other" issues, I keep running into a problem where I am being told when trying to install some programs that I need to have Administration User rights to do so. The problem is that it is an Administrator User Account. The User Account is the first and only Account on the computer.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

NOT PART OF THE USER ACCOUNT ISSUE:

["Other" already encountered and finally conquered issues:

#1 Black screens of death with functional mouse cursor upon start up:

This happened every time I turned it on. I had to reset it or hard power the computer off then restart until it would randomly decide to get passed the stupid blue Windows 8 icon and do what it was supposed to do rather then the random but often Black Screen of death.
<-This issue didn't repair itself until after the Windows FATAL ERROR crash->
It continued to do this until after an it decided to amazingly and finally have a successful Windows update. Then it just stopped doing the stupid Black Screen of death with functional mouse, thank goodness!

#2 The very first time I attempted to update Windows 8 it failed and then crashed when trying to install the updates upon restart. FATAL ERROR 0xc00003a.
(I remind you this was a Windows update that caused this.)
I could not get Windows 8 to reboot until I went into recovery mode and accepted the option to wipe all 3rd party apps (already 48 GB's of installed programs) and basically re-install Windows 8.]

Is Windows 8 64-bit just pure crap or am I just extremely unlucky?

Unlucky, certainly! I've installed 8 on many machines and had no issues like that! You MAY avoid the User A/C issue by upgrading to a M'soft Account if you haven't already done so. Meanwhile running System File Checker appears to be quite good at fixing OS problems, worth a try.
Winkey plus 'X'
Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
Type sfc /scannow then Enter

Thank you dodger46 for your reply.

I have reattempted to install some programs that I was having trouble with after a few more windows updates & reboots. I haven't seen the administrator error popping up yet since the previous mention. Apparently the problem resolved itself after the Windows updates.

I also ran sfc /scannow per your suggestion. It ran properly and everything has checked out fine.

The Windows 8 OS has not been giving me any other noticeable issues and I am even willing to say it seems to be a very solid OS at this point.

P.S. It's a shame I can not leave those who I purchased the computer from a good review, now that I have fixed all the issues it is running excellently. But it is apparent to me now that whoever installed the Windows 8 OS software initially dropped the ball. I bought the computer from Newegg.com but I'm not sure if they assembled the computer and installed the OS. I will leave them a nasty review and leave the blame to whoever installed the software for failure to test the computer OS software to make sure the install was stable before shipping it. There were clearly some major issues with the installed Windows 8 OS that should have been easily detectable if they had done some very basic tests before shipping this computer.

Thank goodness I do IT for a living or I would have been a very pissed off customer and they would have had a returned computer.

Very much doubt individual PCs are checked before shipping, an OS will be ''proved' on one machine then a System Image created and copied to the rest. Highly recommend you so the same, just in case you have any issues in the future, especially if you were not provided with a set of Recovery disks.
1. Repair Disk
2. System Image
This can be achieved by typing 'Recovery' at your Start Screen, and from Settings choose Windows 7 File Recovery. This screen contains links to both the above. Ideally create on USB Flash drives (Too many failures on DVDs!)
Ensure your machine is fully up-to-date 1st by typing 'Update' at the Start Screen and from Settings choose 'Check for Updates'. Al new updates can then be downloaded and installed rather than being drip-fed from M'soft...
Also if you see a figure in the bottom Rt corner of the 'Store' Tile it will mean Updates are available for some Apps. Open Store to install.

Your probably right that computers are not individually tested. However, I have also noticed that the computer's chassis is very badly aligned and the mouse that came with it does not scroll up properly. It looks like there were more than a few things wrong. They provided a Windows 8 re-installation disk, that's how I re-installed Windows 8. I know how to fix the chassis alignment, it's not a big deal. I'm convinced this computer was a wee bit neglected somewhere in the process.

Thanks for the instructions on how to update all the updates at once. I already knew this but I know many others did not.
