okay past one week , i have learnt(somewhat ) to build a PC on my own . I have selected my components as per suggestions of many guys out here in tomshardware forumns . thanks to sanket Khatri , jinayhvora , spawnkiller , younes-ea , legohouse , marco wash ,sn1992 , swilczak ,clarkjd and many others they have helped me a lot ...

now i am ready to build my first pc , BUT how do you know whether the parts you are buying is actually in good condition or dead especially when you are a noob ?

if , after my build , pc didn't work , i wont even know which part is not functioning

i mean for mobo , ram , processor , hdd , powersupply , optical drive ,etc., how to check for dead product ?

is there any procedure to check each of the components for any kind of defect or dead ?

kindly answer in detail ...

You'll know if it doesn't work if it doesn't work. There are that many different signs that your hardware isn't working. There's no point listing them all unless you suspect something is wrong.

That being said the most obvious signs to look for are, things not powering on (as long as everything is cabled correctly), no noise/odd noises from hardware and diagnostic lights on the motherboard.

As i said it's a waste of time listing all the possibilities unless you potentially have faulty/non working hardware.

A majority of the time you're never going to be able to tell whether it's dead on arrival until you try to use the hardware. Aside from obvious physical damage, there's no easier way to tell than booting up your computer.

I recently built a computer using parts i bought online, lucky for me everything worked fine but if they didn't, i would have sent them back. I suppose the best tip at this stage for you is to buy from a decent seller to ensure you don't have a hard time sending back faulty hardware if the problem arises, which is unlikely but not impossible.

you can only send back faulty product only if you know which product (part) is faulty , you cant return all products .. thats what m speaking about ,brother.
