I can't decide between an alienware 17 with 16 GB ram, i7 4700 qm, single gtx 770m and an alienware 18 with the same specs except a DUAL gtx 765m

Solution
Alienware is much quieter, deals better with heat and has much better parts, ie keyboard, screen quality, chassis quality etc.

SLI are generally better than single card solutions, more speed etc and a longer life but in this case its pretty close

If I were you, I would look at my budget and then decide.

However, Alienware's are not very portable laptops, There thick and heavy and the battery are not strong, (ie max 1 hr gaming) if i were you, I would look at the towers, you can save a lot and get a better build. Something to consider.

Dual 765M will perform a bit better than a single 770M, however, do you really want an Alienware? Or do you just want a good, powerful gaming laptop? And what's your budget? You might want to take a look at Asus G750, they have models with 765M, 770M, and soon, a model with the 780M. Their laptop looks sleek, and has a far better cooling system than Alienware. Another option to go with is SAGER, they are a true gamer's favorite. They don't care about looks, all they care about is performance, they have a 2500$ laptop that packs dual 780M, that's 110FPS in battlefield 3 multiplayer!

Yes, I read all this and agree. However; only alienware, sager or xotic pc sager built platforms will allow you to upgrade anything yourself (saying you get a 765m now). If you crack the seal on an MSI without an aftermarket warranty; it goes bye bye. You cant upgrade Asus at all as they solder the CPU and GPU as does toshiba and Acer. So it really comes down to Alienware and Sager/Clevo for me. Who can chime in with any more input like this? I am getting a 765M that I can later upgrade to a 780M and add memory and Solid state drives or more hard drive space/sustainability to. So I want the expansion slots.

Input?
