Asus p8z77 V pro (i5 3570 - OS7 64)and wish to know what is the best RAM to choose. need 16GB.
Question 1: is 2x8 or is 4x4 better.?
I believe faster Hz is also best but is it as stable or does that not matter?
Question 2 : is there a frequency that this board performs best with?
or is stock standard 1600 better?
Question 3 : is a lower voltage than 1.5 better for performance or what?

Solution

Question 1: 2x8GB is better. Disadvantage with 4x4GB is that the memory wil run in Dual channel only with more stress to the MC (memory controller). I recommend 4x4GB only if your mobo support Quad Channel memory (X79 Chipset motherboards).

Question 2: 1866MHz or 1600MHz is better and is stable. And speeds above 1866MHz is not stable...

Go to the board vendors approved RAM list and buy something on that list.

1) Doesn't matter unless you plan on overclocking, then 2x8 is better because less variability is added to the system and it also gives you more upgrade options in the future.

2) RTFM. Does "best" mean fastest or more stable? Sticking to stock speeds is usually safest.

3) see above approved ram list.

I got 2x8 because you have the choice to get 32 later..
Your motherbord supports up ti 2600 MHz if you overclock your cpu.. but my 3770k can run 2133 MHz at stock clock, and 2400 MHz with a miner overclock.. So i would say, you could run around the same with a little multiplier change.. :)
The voltage is just how much power it needs (i think.. I haven't looked into it that much)
But you don't need more and 1333 MHz, if gaming.. I got 2400 MHz because I'm doing Rendering too..

Question 2: 1866MHz or 1600MHz is better and is stable. And speeds above 1866MHz is not stable and not a good idea with your processor. Yes, faster speeds are better as the memory will work at a faster rate but speed should not be the only factor that you need to consider, stability also important.

Question 3:Yes, anything below 1.5v like 1.35v memory will perform with less power consumption but the performance will be similar but may be good if you overclock.

If you need ValueRAM then try crucial, Kingston, Memorystock etc. Good luck with the upgrade!!
