Hi guys, I'm a bit worried about my gpu. It idles between 42 degrees minimum and around 45 to 46 on a hot noon. I have overclocked my card to 950 mhz core and 1350 memory clock. I haven't flashed the card and doesn't have any plans anyway. When I run furmark at maximum, I get a max temp of around 82 degrees. I am running furmark at 1440x900. Is there something I need to worry about? Card is still under shop warranty. I live in the Philippines and the ambient temp plays around 28 to 32 degrees.

Intel Core I3 3220
Strike x-gt casing (loaded with fans) 2 front, 1 side, 1 bottom intakes, 2 top, 1 rear exhaust
Corsair VS650

Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. That card was one of the highest end card of the AMD Radeon 6000 series, they gave it as much power as possible to perform as good as possible. Those cards can usually withstand temps up to and often over 100 degrees. While I can understand you being worried about a temperature of 82, I doubt that without adding a better cooler that anything is really going to make that better.

If you are still worried, try applying some really good thermal paste to the chip under the heatsync. I have found this to make a huge difference at times, and after that if you still aren't happy with the temps then raise the fan speed. Both of this should lower the temperature of the card and may make the card last a while longer, since the hotter the card the faster it is likely to go bad. That being said, even if you do nothing to it the card will probably work a few more years completely fine.

Your room temp is high... your case is well ventilated? I would worry much until 85ºC. After that I would... I dont have that model, however I used to have a GTX 560 TI OC from MSI and I reached 91ºC (max GPU temp was 99ºC according to site). I removed the heatskin, cleaned the chip and applied new thermal paste, temps dropped around 15ºC. However I was not on warranty already.

I understand your concern, 82 degrees in my opinion is too hot for comfort. I assume that you have one of these dual fan cards AX6950 2GBD5-2DH or AX6950 1GBD5-2DH and not the PCS+ or Vortex models. Correct me if I'm mistaking.
Also, did your card work well before and now is hot or has it always been hot?

Potential solution:
1. You can try taking off the dual fans and reapplying thermal paste. Sometimes if too much is applied then it can effect the heat transfer, and you'll have a hotter than usual card.

2. You can also get an after market cooler. This one from Artic cooling

has good reviews for keeping a card cool. However, you should know its not the easiest to install and its quite large. So you'll want to take into account how much space you have in your case. I know I linked a site from the states. You would have to find a local retailer. Hope this helps!
