hi guys,i've just build,i didn't oc or anything, and i'm using intel stock cooler,my temp are 83c after 20 min of gaming,is this normal, what should i do if it's not ?also my room temp is 27-33

Solution
Hi i have the same cpu. i done some tests for a friend and found that at stock or 3.4Ghz the intel HSF is perfect. but if you motherboard like mine enable cpu boost (the cpu jumps from 3.4 to 3.8Ghz) the stock intel HSF might strugle a little bit.

when the i5-4670K hits around 85'c it will start to throttle down (run slower) to help cope with the heat. so this leaves you with 3 options. first is to live with it running hot. second is to disable cpu boost so the cpu keeps at 3.4Ghz or third is to get a good HSF. you don't have to go crazy. just someting that can handly the extra heat.

Oh this is assuming you computer case has good air flow and is exhausting the hot air ok :)

Those temps are not normal! Try reapplying the thermal paste and be sure that you installed the cooler correctly! Stock cooler are crappy so consider buying a new aftermarket one... if the problem doesn't get solved

83C is not healthy, definitely invest in a CPU cooler, Haswell are known to be a very hot CPU but 83C is to much, i'd say anything under 70 is reasonably good

I don't agree with this. New Intel stock coolers do a very good job if you don't overclock. For instance, I have a i5-2500K with stock cooler and my temps are around 32C on idle and 55C under load. But it's true that I've heard that 4th generation Haswell tend to run a little hotter compared to 2nd and 3rd generation, but still 83C is not normal.

newbleet: Looks like you didn't install your heatsink properly. Can you tell us what heatsink you're using? Did you apply thermal paste? You most probably will have to remove it and re-apply paste and make sure it's properly seated with enough pressure on the CPU.

might be worth opening something like CPU-Z and running some light benchmarks to see if you cpu boosts upto 3.8Ghz.
also check you have good air flow through your case and as already stated check your HSF is fitted correctly.

if all else fails replace the HSF :)

82C is still too high for my taste. You might want to change your heatsink, or re-install the one your already have.

Also, what kind of case do you have? Make sure you have enough fans with good airflow. Ideally, at least 1 x fan for intake and 1 x fan for exhaust to make sure the air circulates inside.
