Very simple question that I figured I would get a second opinion on:

Trying to save some dough upgrading my rig and plan on getting the VI Extreme, but i have 16 GB of 1066 ram already...will this motherboard run on this ram? I know its a little dated but figured i would see if i could save myself a couple hundred bucks. It does support the following ram : DDR3 3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333

I know the 1333 ram is very similar in architecture to the 1066 but will it work on this mobo? Thanks in advance

Solution

It supports 1066MHz and 1333MHz memory along with the other speeds. The memory speeds doesn' matter that much...

Ugh, this upgrading is hurting my bank! I might just risk it, and if it works see if i can just OC it to 1333

It supports 1066MHz and 1333MHz memory along with the other speeds. The memory speeds doesn' matter that much if you are not a heavy overclocker or if you run high memory intensive applications. But the current standard in terms of speed is 1600MHz.

The answer to your question is "YES" it will work without any issues. Post us the results so others can benefit from it. Good luck mate!!

Of course i spent another 125 bucks and ordered 16 gb of 1600MHz ram just incase, if it works with 1066MHz i might just return the mem i ordered. It arrives tomorrow and if it works i will let you all know.
