Is a motherboard with PCIe 2.0 slot compatible with a PCIe 3.0 graphics card. The motherboard I'm looking at is this:

http://www.ebuyer.com/269072-asus-m5a78l-m-usb3-amd-soc...

This is the graphics card:

http://www.ebuyer.com/477622-xfx-hd-7770-core-edition-1...

Are these compatible if not what motherboard would be compatible?

More about : pcie pci compatibility

Yes. It's more accurate to say that your pcie 3.0 graphics card is backwards compatible with pcie 2.0. Pcie 2.0 is still more than fast enough for todays graphics cards, so you wont take much of a hit for using 2.0.

What CPU are you planning to get with that board? If its a 6300 or bigger, just don't.
That is an extreme low cost board that should not be coupled with more than an FX 4350.

The processor is this - AMD FX 6300

I'm just doing a bit of research for someone not built one for years! Can you recommend a motherboard that would be better suited?
