I have VMware player installed on win7 home desktop. When going onto internet from VMware does it use the security software (Norton360) or do I need to install its own antivirus software. I ask because it is asking me to connect to Microsoft within 29 days to register or it will stop working.

Solution
you would need to install it's own antivirus. The VM environment is like a mini pc running inside your PC and doesn't touch your actual internet connection so anything viruses won't pass through it.

Yes asgetochkn said, you need to install it on the virtual machine as well.
- And btw the reason why it says "you need to connect to microsoft within 29 days to register or it will stop working" is because you are currently only using a trial version of windows 7.

Zmokamok - Thanks for confirming about antivirus - I am using a full version of win 7 home premium, that I have had to reinstall on this desktop as it crashed and wouldn't restart however I tried. Since rebuild I have used the Win 7 desktop for over a week without any messages or problems. The message started popping up the day after I installed VMware and win xp from same xp disc that I originally installed it on this desktop and have been using it for almost a year until the win 7 crashed.
