i want to upgrade my motherboard

i have a few years old system.it has intel dual core 2.8 ghz processor pentium D.its ddr1 and has 512 mb of ram.i want to change my motherboard to a durable ddr3 motherboard.please tell me which ddr3 motherboard will support my processor.I can provide more info if you want.I live in india so please tell about products which i can get in here and I wud like to add that I am very tight on my budget.

You may be able to find DDR2 boards compatible with your CPU. If you want to use DDR3, you will have to upgrade your CPU too.

The old Pentium-D is a slow and horrible power hog so I would strongly recommend ditching it even if you could find a board with DDR3 for it. You could get an AMD A6, motherboard and 4GB RAM for around $150 (~9k) if you are on a really tight budget, ~$200 (12k) for an IB Pentium, LGA1155 motherboard and 4GB RAM if you want to stick with Intel. Either one should be much faster than your old Pentium-D.
