I'm planning on getting a new ssd for my computer, a Samsung SSD 840 EVO 1TB.
I already have a 256 gb ssd as a boot drive with my games and the things that need speed, i also have a 1tb hdd just for storage.
Can i have the 256gb ssd as boot, and just put the games and the program files over to the 1tb ssd? without having to reinstall everything or spend money?

Precisely you got it. Uninstall from C: and re-install to X: (The software installer will prompt you for the destination install folder)

When uninstalling some games or programs will ask if you want to backup or retain your program data. Just make sure you keep this data and all should be restored when you install it on the new drive.

If you are unsure and don't want to risk then a quick Google search should tell you how to backup the application's program or app data.

Best of luck

As for the directory name; you can name it anything you please. No matter how obscure or offensive as long as it makes sense to you when you install stuff in the future, Windows will still use it :)

You can leave your boot drive intact (meaning you don't need to reinstall the OS - which is what I think is the biggest concern)

Your must re-install the games and programs to the new drive in order to update all the Windows registry and program settings.

Each program should keep application data in the same folders (So game data and settings should be retained) on the C: drive unless you modified the environment variables or the program offers you the convenient option. These files are so small that a 256gb drive won't really be impacted by this data.

No more money spending but just some time reinstalling apps to let your OS know the knew locations.

So do i delete the games from C: and install them on X: as if i would on C:?
Shall i make a folder called program files(x86) on the X: drive and put them there?
