Hard Drive not recognized by computer

I am installing a new computer. i have two HDD. windows detects both of them, but i do not know how to configure the second drive as "D".

If you are using WinXP/Vista/7....
right click My Computer>select manage...
Under Storage, select Disk management
Highlight the drive in the window and select to assign it a drive letter & format NTFS

it tells me that i must first initialize it, i can either choose "Master Boot Record", or "GUID Partition Tabel"
what should i pick?
