web page loading issues

I have a network of computers connected to a router/firewall and cable modem.

I'm having a strange issue on all the machines, and in multiple browsers. When I browse to a web page, sometimes it loads right away, sometimes it takes a long time to load, sometimes the page loads but apparently without css as it's just a mess of text down the left side, and sometimes most of the page loads but some of the images don't and they say (in Chrome at least) "unable to resolve DNS" or something like that. I could be on the same page and one time it doesn't load right and after a refresh it loads. Seems pretty random but the ads/images on certain sites almost never load, while others do. Also, I'm pretty sure every page has loaded at least something....it never simply fails to load the page completely....it's just slow or incomplete.

Speed tests seem to be somewhat stable, malware has been cleaned, and the ISP has been contacted to test the line. Every other internet function seems to work fine. It's just web pages, so DNS seems to make sense but I do not know what the issue could be.

We have a Firebox firewall/router in place and the DNS servers are entered there. I tried several changes, including ones suggested by running "namebench", and also removed the entries completely so it defaults to the DNS of the ISP. No changes.

I have not tried changing the DNS servers on the individual workstations but I don't see how that would matter....and it doesn't solve whatever the root issue is.

I really don't know what else to do. Is it possible that the Firebox is dying? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, update the firmware on the old one or reset it....If you need a better router with more control set features THEN buy it. Spend money where you need to NOT want to........................................

On site now and cant even log in it is so bad.

I bypassed the router by connecting straight to the modem and all was fine. So it is something with the router apparently but what?

Thanks
