How Would I know If I damaged a motherboard?

I was inserting a motherboard today and had quite a bit of trouble fitting it in. I had to reseat it a good 5 or 6 times due to the mounts not lining up.

While I was holding it was making slick clicking noises(nothing mechanical, it was turned off lol) from when it touched the bottom of the case and was moved around. Also, the case was very small so it took a few knocks on the side.

One other thing I did was to lower the MB into the case I held onto the CPU cooler, what I mean is: I used the CPU cooler to hold the weight of the MB so I could lower it. This was because I couldn't fit my hands down the side of the case while holding the MB. So not sure if I could've done any damage there.

How would I know if I damaged something on it?

I would like to assume given how difficult they are to hold and the amount of transistors and chips on them that they are not made of glass and the chips would take a good knock to dislodge them.

By the way, I'm using it at the moment and no problems I've run a few things like Prime95 and FurMark and no errors came up.

Thanks..

There is no way to really tell if you damaged the motherboard if there is no physical damage you can see. I hope you were grounded and using a grounding strap when you did the build. If you did some damage to it it may not show up for some time in the future. Of course if you finish the build and the system won't start...

Unfortunately, you won't know until something fails.

I had trouble fitting a mobo in a case once and I banged it around a lot like you did. Luckily it did work perfectly after. I'd like to tell you a happy ending, but the board died like 2 years later. Unfortunately, I'll never know if it was because I was too rough with it fitting it in the case 2 years before, or if it would have died anyways... I guess I'll never know....

I replaced the board and re-used all other components and that computer is still running today.
