need help choosing a CPU upgrade

hello my friend gave me his old computer and i need help upgrading the processor i know its an old board but heres the link

aside from the list of supported processor i have read on other forums that people have gotten some phenom 2 X4 920 and 945's to work right now im running an athlon 64 x2 6000+ btw my bios allows me to overclock my cpu so please help me choose a processor that i can overclock to a decent speed if needed thanks

Update the BIOS and put a phenom x4 9600 in it. I believe it's the best CPU you can overclock with on that board. You should be able to push it to 3.0ghz without a problem.

what about a Phenom X3 8600 does that overclock well the 8600 is more in my price range

I'm not sure how well it overclocks but you should have no problem getting it up to 2.8ghz. Of course a quad core would always be better if you can find it in your price range.
