This is a new build :-
Radeon 7870
FX4350
Thermaltake 630w smart series
990fx Extreme3
mushkin enhanced 2x2gb sticks
blueray drive
2tb barracuda

Currently the fans turn on and the case power will both turn on and off, there is no way to test if the restart functions but I assume it does, also the light on the blueray drive works, allowing me to open and close the draw.

The problem is there is no display going to the monitor so I cannot tell if any form of bios is being booted, with no motherboard VGA port I cannot try through the motherboard it's self.

What do I do in this scenario?

make sure all power plugs are connected tightly first. Then if you can, the best option to narrow it down is to try the parts in a different system. Start with the GPU to see if that is functioning properly. Then the ram then HDD and on to the CPU.

The solution was actually quite simple, nothing was dead or in need of an RMA.

On the Extreme3 motherboard, the ram slots are not identified as 12,34. For some reason I needed to put in as :-

0101 (0's empty, 1's ram inserted).
This is the only way it would boot up, no ram would give system beep code errors, but not when the ram was in the wrong dual slots, just wouldn't run. Hope this helps anyone with a similar new build issue on boards that have no colour specified ramslots.
