Newly upgraded system stutters

Hello all,

I've recently upgraded my mobo/CPU/RAM, and after reinstalling Windows and updating all the drivers, the computer is experiencing random stutters.

I would click on something on a certain program, and the computer would freeze except for the mouse cursor, which I can move around, but not click.

After about 30s or so it would unfreeze and whatever I was clicking/downloading, etc would instantly "catch up". It seems to occur at random, and is not confined to any one specific program. Sometimes it would be on Firefox, or just clicking the start button, etc.

This happens irregularly, from once every few minutes to every few hours, and doesn't occur while the computer is operating without user input (ie playing videos, etc)

So far I've defragged, and run memory and HDD tests and they've come up fine.

Any ideas?

Huh? That's what I asked. When you replace the MB, you have to re-install Win7 anew for it to gather information of the new board's components so it can install the correct drivers and structure its Registry. If you try to use an old installation of Win7, you are asking for trouble. Win7 may try to correct itself over time, but it will be a mess and the registry is highly corrupted.

But a clean install of Win7 will wipe the old data on the disk. So if you have anything you need to keep, better back it up.

No, I only reinstalled windows.

By clean do you mean a formatting the drive and reinstalling? Or is there something less substantial I can try? I've got a bunch of files in the drive and dont want to move them around unless I have no choice.
