For all of you coming to see this looking for a possible answer to lag spikes. Check your harddrives! Just dumped my Caviar Green and installed new Caviar Black and all games are running smooth as butter. Thanks to one of the commenter's, Check below for name.

Okay, I'm very new to this whole forum thing so if I placed this in the wrong sub than just tell me.
My PC specs are:
Graphics: GeForce GTX 670, MSI OC Edition
Processor: Intel Core i7-2600 at 3.90GHz Hyperthreaded to 8 CPU's
Memory: 8GB at 1600 (2x4GB)
HDD: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB
Supply: CoolerMaster 750W
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 912 Mid-Tower
Motherboard/Chipset: MSI Z77-GD65
Okay so.. I just recently (past 30 days) upgraded my PC! The two things I added were a MSI Z77-GD65 motherboard and a Samsung 840 Pro Series SSD. When I made this upgrade I completely reinstalled the computer. Formatted both hard drives and then set my SSD for a Boot and 2TB wd as a Storage. When I did this upgrade I also overclocked my CPU from 3.4 to 3.9(max). Before I made this upgrade my games ran smooth as can be and I never had lag spikes or anything. Now since the upgrade in all games I get lagspikes every minute or so and this really bugs me because I'm quite a competitive player in multiple different games.. Cod4 etc..
This mainly at the moment is bugging me the most in cod4 because when you play competitive life and death is a matter of milliseconds.
The issue is not power because the game runs smooth at 250 fps and doesn't drop below.. its just that every minute or so my frames will randomly drop down to 1 and then straight back up..
I don't know if this is a harddrive speed issue (all my games run off of my storage hdd [2TB WD Caviar Green]) because it is now 2 or 3 years old.. I dont have any issues loading stuff from it or anything but yea. Please help!

pps. I usually have Skype, Spotify, Steam, Xfire and Google Chrome running in background. but cpu load never leaves a threshold of 0 to 35%?.
