I recently Upgraded my cpu cooler from a stock cooler to a corsair H60 watercooling system. Thermal compound/paste is pre-applied with the H60, and I installed it without removing the old paste on the CPU from the stock cooler. Ive read many articles about removing thermal paste, and I feel sort of dumb for not removing it now. I've had my system up and running for over a month now, and I havent noticed any performance related issues. It seems like a really stupid question but should I go back and try to remove it? or should I just leave it?

chances are that if you havent had any issues so far you are probably fine at least if you continue the same usage patterns. you might not have the most ideal heat transfer though.

if it was my system i would be shutting down the system, using rubbing alcohol to remove the old paste and putting on some artic silver.

your choice.
