{GPU is a msi 660ti pe oc, normal core clock-1205mhz normal memory clock-3506mhz} yes its OC'd

Hi,
1. What does "prefer Maximum Performance" do in your NVidia Control Panel?
(globally or just for BF3)

*It's under "manage 3D settings"-> "power management mode" and disables the adaptive GPU clock ability.

2. Is issue with BF3 only or other games?

3. What is your NORMAL framerate at this setting?
(I have most things at the highest quality and can barely maintain 60FPS on my GTX680 @1200MHz), i7-3770K, 2133MHz DDR3.

this is the second time it happened and i dont remember what game it was last time....normal fram rate is 55min-60fps because i use vsync but i run at 768p (ultra preset) for stability (game looks good either way) and yes its under "prefer maximum performance. i restarted the computer and things went back to normal

Uninstall your drivers and install the latest ones. Be sure to select the "Clean Install" option. This is a common bug and either a reinstall of drivers, or as you know, restarting your PC or game will fix it.

Restarted and things work:
Unless this happens a lot, then there's nothing to do. You may have had a glitch caused by another game or program which restarting sorted out. I doubt it's your video drivers.

I just helped someone else with the same issue and he had problems after installing some Skyrim mods. They may have caused a memory leak or other issue. Rebooting solved his issue, at least for now.

i had this same problem, mostly happened on crysis 2 and 3. rebooting works, or use nvidia inspector and a batch file to force your clock rates, that was a 100% fix for me. Also since i installed a second gtx660 for sli i havnt had the problem.
