Windows 7 over Vista

I have an older laptop that I want to use to run a small server. I am considering updating some hardware, but for now I am wondering if it would help if I wipe the hard drive and install windows 7 instead of Vista. Any ideas?

This would make it run faster, however, i would advise against using a laptop as a server. It is pretty impractical.

I realize what that looked like, I am not using it as that kind of server. It will run a gaming server for my friends and I. Sorry for the confusion
