Hi

I have upgraded to the N600 and would like to use the N150 to strengthen the signal in the lower section of the house.
what is the easiest way possible for me to do this.
I want to be comfortable with direction before trying, i have been reading a few different articles online but dont feel certain they will work.
thanks

You don't really want to do a bridge -- what you want to do is set up the N150 as an access point (AP) by turning off its DHCP service.

You need to connect it to the N600 with an LAN to LAN connection, either with an Ethernet cable or if not possible then with a pair of powerline adapters (they are not as reliable as a cable but usually do okay, a 500Mbps pair should give you around 40MB/s).

The N150 needs to use the same SSID, security and password as the N600, but a different radio channel (selecting from 1, 6, and 11). The N150 needs a static address set in the N600 that is in the network range but outside the N600 DHCP range (so if the N600 gateway address is 192.168.1.1, make the N150 192.168.1.2 and start the N600 DHCP...

That address for the N150 must be set in both the N150 as its IP address and as a static device at that address in the N600.

NOTE that instead of a static address you can use address reservation, since the N600 supports that and gives the same end result but is probably easier if you are not real familiar with routers. You manual will have a short explanation of how to, but usually under LAN settings you find address reservation and use the N150 MAC address to give it a reserved address.

thanks RealBeast
I need a bit more info, sorry not overly tech savy.
when i change the IP address for the N150 am i manually doing this through my network settings when the ethernet cable is plugged in, or through the routerlogin page? i think this is where i am getting stuck.
At the mo, i can see both Router/modems have the same IP and router details
cheers in advance

You do that through the router login page. You have to disconnect the N150 and one computer from the network and just attach it to that computer with a cable to an LAN port. You can then log in and make all changes -- make the IP address change last as that will require you to log back in to the new address that you assign. If you mess up, which usually happens at least once, you can always just reset the N150 back to defaults with the reset button. Once it is set up then you can attach it to the network again.

Either before or after doing the N150, you need to go to the LAN section of the N600 router configuration pages and enter the N150 IP and MAC address into the address reservation table using the same IP address there as you used in the N150 page and the hardware MAC address of the N150 -- so best to write the MAC address down while you are in the N150 configuration pages, it will on the basic settings page for the N150.
