Hello Everyone...!
I need you guys to assist me in upgrading my GPU for playing latest games like GTA 4,BF 3 upcoming Watch Dogs etc..
Here's my specs:
2GB DDR3 RAM
Pentium Dual Core E5700 3GHz Processor
Nvidia GeForce 210 Video Card
MSI G41M-P26 Motherboard
Frontech ATX JIL 2414i PSU (20+4pin config)
I've been playing most of the latest games either by lowering the settings or lowering resolution & even though i get unplayable fps sometimes because of this crappy gpu
I'm on a tight budget & thinking to buy ATI 6670 or 6450.. What do you say about it? Any other suggestions around Rs.5000/USD 80-90$ ?
Edit: I'm going update my ram to 6gb

Aren't they power hungry and outdated?
How much do they cost?

9800gtx+ is a good solution but listen if you could add up 15 more dollars to that money you could get a HD 7770 2GB Ghz Edition which is 40-45% more powerful then the 9800GTX+ and has more more vram on it. if your psu is 500W you should definitely get HD 7770 Ghz edition because it will be a super boost. if your psu is 400W you could get a HD 7750 which also powerful. if you still want to buy a gpu with 85$ you could get a 9800gtx but i think saving up extra dollars and you could get a lot better card. choice is yours

I'm tight on my budget for gpu because I'm buying a new ram also.
And one more thing is that my motherboard has a pci e 1.0 or 1.1 slot i think so will it be support backward compatibility?? I heard that pci 1.0 has problems detecting gpus with 2.1 pci

dude the slot that your mobo has, the blue one, the one that is under the little circle battery that's the PCI-E 2.0 slot where you can install any compatible gpu like hd 7770 or 90% of all other gpu's in the world. pcie 1.0 has nothing do with it. your mobo is G41M-P26 right? so you shouldnt have any problem. about the gpu, you can go ahead and buy gtx9800+ it's the best solution for your gpu budget.

9800GTX+ needs minimum PSU of 450W so if you got 450W you wont have ANY problems with power.

theres a problem your psu says 450W but it isnt True 450W if we convert these watts it will be True 240W so this is a big problem actually. if you're gonna buy a 9800gtx+ you need a new psu and dont try testing my words i fried my mobo and my psu when i tried so im telling you this from my own experience. if you buy the new psu tell them that you need TRUE 450W or whatever watt psu you will be buying and dont buy psu manufactured by Colorful or piece of shit manufacturers like that. buy a true 450 or whatever watt psu you will/ if you will be buying. i would recommend buying Corsair PSU's their dependable and safe. but as you say that you're low on budget then i dont know man. maybe upgrade ram later and buy psu now? because if you put that gtx9800+ in there your going on very high risks and you migh fry your system. well your choice. decide whatever you want.

He won't have a problem if it was a quality 450W PSU.
The one he has doesn't even have a 6 pin connector.

The fastest card he can use is the HD 7750, although if it's out of your budget, a HD 7730 will also get the job done.
If the HD 7730 isn't available yet in india, get a HD 6670 instead.

I've considered the 6670 before.but i'm confused whether to go with the ddr3 version or ddr5 ?? or else consider the 9800gtx+ as Black_Hawk suggested...?

listen i know what im saying because it has happened to me before, HD 6670 still requires a true 400W 9800GTX+ requires a True 450W so its your choice to make now whether your gonna buy ram and then save money for the psu or dont buy the ram buy psu and gpu. it's your choice to make

ive seen the psu he has and it is not that reliable. its the same shit that Colorful makes 450W which is True 240W which will fry his rig if his gonna but that 9800GTX+ or HD6670 because one requires TRUE 400W psu and the other True 450W. and the only thing his gonna end up if he puts up that rig on that psu is with a fried system. he'll have to buy new parts i know this because i went through it.

if you are deciding between 6670 and 9800gt
if 6670 is ddr3 then 9800 gt will win BUT 9800gt is DIRECT X 10
if 6670 is ddr5 then it is better then 9800gt and also has the DIRECT X 11

BUY THE DDR5 6670
