I'm losing my mind due to fan noise!

Someone help! Please!

I have a coolermaster HAF XB case. Wonderful case. Except the two front fans are beyond noisy! So I just removed them and the system was much quieter. But not enough. My CPU(i5 4670k Haswell at stock) used the default cooler and it was very high pitched. So today I went out and bought the Coolermaster Hyper evo 212 to replace it. Quieter? Yes! But there's this..."whooshing" of the air that is very audible, even during the day.

I have very sensitive ears and loud noises give me headaches easily. The new CPU cooler is seriously driving me mad and the noise is unbearable.

Could someone PLEASE, please help me? I need a quiet computing experience. I'm wondering if it might just be the HAF XB case itself since there's no sound dampening material. Is there a fan I can put in for the CPU cooler that is SILENT?

Stock fans with that CPU cooler and the case are usually quite loud. Using Noctua fans for the case and on the CPU cooler would kill the noise but they can be expensive. You could just buy sound cancelling headphones. (Noctua fansmaybe the quietest fans you can get).

Remove the computer from your immediate environment. It isn't exactly the cheapest alternative, but it does work. You can use USB extensions and high quality, long cabling, and move the box into another room.

You can also use professional type workstation extension equipment such as what the Matrox company offers. This is for people who really can't have their workstation where they are at, for one reason or another, and the solution is priced accordingly:

The benefit is, you can run any equipment you want at this point, and the noise is simply someplace else.

Check the motherboard documentation, it's more than likely you'll be able to set the cooler fan to run at a custom speed/temperature in the BIOS.
If the cooler is getting enough airflow from the rear case fan and you're not pushing an overclock it's possible to run it with no fan attached, it works on my I5 at stock speeds but you MUST check the temperatures using something like Coretemp or Realtemp using Prime 95 or linpack to stress the CPU under controlled and monitored conditions.
The front fans, if they have three wires, are variable speed, they should be plugged into motherboard 3-pin headers and their speed controlled through the BIOS, again, check the documentation to see exactly which settings to adjust.

I have an Enermax ETS-T40 CPU cooler which is similar to the Evo 212 and it's silent in my Fractal Design Arc Midi R-2 case. Under minimum load (most applications) it only runs at 900 RPM. You might want to check what yours is running at both at load and non-load. With no case fans in the front as you have taken them out you might not be getting enough air coming in and your CPU cooler is working too hard. My case also has three fans that run under the case fan controller and I can set it to the lowest speed (5V) for all applications other than game playing (which I have only done with the free Metro Last Light I got with my GPU). The Fractal case fans are really quiet.

If all else fails, you could always purchase a new "quiet" case (of which there are a variety on the market).

I can't move the computer to another room as I live in a shared house with roommates. There's only two fans active in the case. The VGA cooler(Which I moved from 12V connector to the 7V for noise reduction) and the CPU cooler. Which AISuite is telling me that it's running at 700RPM. Isn't that pretty low? I've changed settings in AISUITE and all the fans are running as quite as possible. But the CPU cooler is still audible and has made using the computer, even with headphones; very aggravating.

Like I said, I have very sensitive ears so this is beyond just "noise" for me. My old PC was a regular mid tower(vertical) and I never had any noise problems. This HAF XB though is shorter(but bigger) and has many open vents/grills. I'm just thinking about buying a Fractal R4 at this point and cutting my loss on the computer case. The noise is truly unbearable.

700RPM should not be this audible. Right now my window is open with a light breeze/cars/birds, and they're "quiter" than the fan. It's just a constant "whoooooosh" sound. I was considering buying a new fan like the Noctua because I heard that they're dead silent. I just don't want a bunch of computer hardware laying around if I can still hear that one.

Edit: OMG! Thank you Liam! That Corsair fan sound wonderful. I put my headphones to max and couldn't hear anything that close to the mic in the video. My fan sounds like the Antec one but a bit quieter. I'm going to buy the Corsair and give it a shot.

Thank you guys very much!

Power supply may also be a cause in the overall noise generated by system. There are some power supply solutions out there that offer a fan control built-in to the back of the power supply, allowing you to turn the speed of the large fan up or down, depending on the needs.
