my current rig is this:

-Phenom II x4 965 OC'd to 3.9Ghz w/ 2400MHz NB
-Gigabyte 760 GTX Windforce factory OC plus aftermarket OC = 1332MHz core and 7GB mem clock
-8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 1600MHz/ 9-9-9-24 / 1.5V
-Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
-Corsair H60 cooler
-650W Antec Earthwatts
-Antec 900 Case
-150GB HDD
=====================================================

I'm playing mostly these titles and will be looking forward to certain titles upcoming as well:

Crysis 3
Metro LL
HoN
Grid 2
Far Cry 3
Bioshock Infinite
Skyrim
Bf3 + Bf4
Witcher 2
Witcher 3

as well as upcoming releases to future proof for gaming (mix of GPU and CPU bound titles I suppose is what I play based on list above)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to know If I should upgrade to an 8350 or 8320 ? I just bought my new mobo and ram knowing that i'll be upgrading my CPU soon and overclocking the 8320 or 8350 whichever you guys think is best!

please discuss best buy for me and likely fps gain in cpu bound titles like BF3 (main cpu bound game i play).

I see that the 8350 is on sale on amazon and newegg for $179.99 vs the 8320 being lower clocked and only slightly less...

Currently the 8350 is calling my name ;), although just want to know for sure if it'll be a worthwhile FPS increase in most games?!

Also, I hear 8350 and 990FXA-UD3 have super bad throttling issues and don't know what will happen to my overclock if I get this CPU ? PPL be sayin they have crappy OC'd and major throttling with these two? Can this throttling be fixed somehow?

PPl reccomend waiting for SteamRoller to be relased in a few months but I seriously don't have the patience! I've had my stupid Phenom for years and want the oldest part of my rig outta there!

Solution
The Phenoms were and still are great CPUs. For under $100 (nowadays) it's hard to find a better processor.

In overclocking the 8350 reaches 4.7GHz vs the 8320 reaches 4.6GHz. I'd suggest the 8320 if the price difference is more than $25.

At stock the 8350 is better than the 8320 but who runs at stock? Compare overclocking performance.

However, reports are stating the SteamRoller might not come out until March 2014. Crazy! I love the performance from the 83xx line but the power consumption is massive compared to i5s. (means you need a bigger PSU = more money spent on PSU and a little bit extra power)

logan over at tek syndicate has been playing round with an 8350 and says its virtually indistinguishable against an i5 and for content creation and transcoding, blows it away its the best you can get for your current set up, and the next gen consoles are all running 8 core amd cpu's so it should (SHOULD) be good for next gen ports too. there is also a scheduling fix available to fully utilise the amd 8 core that apparently you have to email and ask for acording to the same teksyndicate guy
hope this helps

Thanks man! Can you elaborate on this "scheduling fix"? What is it? What will it hope to accomplish?

Thanks!

This raises a question indeed...will my pSU be able to handle an 8350 overclocked to say 4.7 (if possible) combined with my gtx 760 overclocked on my current rig. ?

Thanks :). First time anyone's said nice build haha :).

I have seen this video before. However, why is it that the teksyndicate is the only website that shows the 8350 beating the 3570k when overclocked? No other websites supports this, not even tomshardware.

In the video he mentions that the 8350, due to power consumption, will cost $10 extra per year. Also, the 8350, when overclocked and compared to the 3570k, consumes 120W more than the i5. just some info on the teksydicate video.

With that said, I still really like the 8350. I think 650W is the minimum for overclocking the 8350 + 760. I'd feel ok with 650W on this system, but definitely not 550W.

it may be a bit selective, i dont know , i do watch the tek every week and i repect what the guy has to say, he says that the i5 is better but for the difference in performance is it worth it, power consumption is also something to take into account

Thanks. Don't care about Intel tho. I know you're just using intel chips as a foundation for comparison which is good because I know what you're talking about cuz I'm well up to date with Intel chips for the lolz

AMD FX-8300 Vishera 95w: $210

:D

If yah got the upgrade itch, yah gotta scratch it!

But ... the fact is a nice OC on your PhII 965BE (at 1.3v!) will push your GTX760 just dandy in the overwhelming majority of gaming titles.

The FX8320 will clock nicely (within 100-200MHz) of the FX8350, and will gain you a few frames over the PhII 965BE, but I suspect the gains will be largely been seen in your benchmarking only ...

edit: Yup ... 650w should be fine.

The only problem I see is that everywhere on the internet people are having problems with their 990fxa-ud3 rev.3 and fx-8350 !

I'm concerned I'll have major throttling issues because with my 965BE I have no option in the FB bios to change APM mode which people say fixes throttling

Or will APM show up in the bios when i buy my 8350?
