I currently own this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

As you can see, it's been discontinued.

Newegg is now selling this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The low price makes it tempting to CrossFire the two cards...but they're not "exactly" the same model.

The big difference is that my current card is a PCI Express 2.1 x16, while the new card is of the 2.0 x16 format.

Would I be able to stick the new 10311-3L card into my desktop and run the pair in a CrossFire setup?

Thanks!

Yes, the 2 6970's should work fine in xfire.

Make sure you always have the latest drivers(the newer beta driver has some micro stutter fixes as well) and a power supply that meets the requirements.

Thanks for the response!

I'm currently running a Corsair HX850, which "should" run the two cards well enough.

Yes, Your power supply should be good to go(they even give you 6 pci-e connectors on it :)  ).
