whats is the best stupidly insane graphics card setup of the 2 options here?

well i was browsing ebay and other local second handed websites and i found that a 4870x2 is only 90€ (100 including shipping) and that a 5850 is about 70€ with or without shipping. I want to biuld a new pc build at the end of 2013/beginning of 2014 and i was thinking off useing 2 4870x2 or 3 5850's. both are about 220€. but thats not everything i'm also searching for waterblocks for these gpus but i will ask that in another thread when this one gets solved.

pc specs:
amd fx 8350 (or next gen steamroller because this will be build at the end of 2013)
motherboard depends on what the chose will be here
8 gb corsair vengeance ram
sandisk ultra plus ssd
1tb wd blue
case: antec gx 700
water cooling: 2x2 dual 120m aplhacool radiators
psu: Cooler Master GX 750W Bronze
and a random cd/dvd burner

this system costs about 950€ without cards

i would like to have the graphics cards be as cheap as possible

Solution

Both the 3x 5850 or Dual 4870x2s are downright stupid options. Besides the fact you will murder your PSU in the process. 3x 5850s are the better option of the two, due to support for newer technologies and a more efficient architecture. I suggest you invest in this, a 770 or 7970 is more practical and will work wonders.

thank you q6660 inside the setup you made seems great. i will go with that but i will change the 770 for a 7970 because it is cheaper. and 1 thing completly aside from this topic a TOTALY agree with your profile picture saying phenom III.

thanks for the help :D

5 minutes + paint.net = profit :D No problem, I hope you make the best out of your build. By the way, if the Radeon 9950 Hawaii chip comes out around Battlefield 4's release, go for that instead of the 770 or 7970.

i will see what the hd 9000 series brings if there is a good price drop on the hd 7000 series then i will go with the 7970 ONLY if it is cheaper then the 9950 and preformces about the same. If not 9950 ftw

The reference 9950 is said to be around 13-20% faster than the 7970 GHz edition.

If you're looking for gaming performance, you want to spend as much on the graphics card(s) as possible.

That having been said for about 220 euros, if you're intent on SLI/xfire off the bat, a pair of 7770 ghz editions will give the best performance on that budget.

I do recommend a single card to start with, however. The best card under 222 is the 660 ti

but if you can stretch the budget a bit, for 240 euros, you can get a gtx 760 which is a huge bump.
