Buy GTX 770 now for 2560x1440 or wait for Maxwell?

I want to buy a GPU to power the newest games with at least 30 FPS for at least 2 years from now, on 2560x1440 monitor.

I know that NVIDIA GTX 770 is a very powerful card, and that it can power the newest games out there right now pretty well even on my 2560x1440 monitor. But what about a year from now? A year and a half?

While I don't require more than 30 FPS or more than "High" settings, I honestly don't think GTX 770 will power the newest games two years from now.

I can wait until the first half of 2014 (when Maxwell is rumored to release), but
Could Maxwell change the game for 2560x1440 owners?

Don't mean to be rude or anything but how are you a graphics card authority when you don't even know that Maxwell is an Nvidia architecture, not AMD.

The price is also one of the reasons I want to wait for Maxwell. My budget gets as high as GTX 770, and the option to spend even less when Maxwell comes out is also a priority.

I don't consider myself a gamer. My requirements are high, not very high, just my monitor resolution is.

This is all speculation of course. But if you can wait for Maxwell, maybe you should, for things always get better and cheaper with time. However, you may be disappointed with Maxwell. Sure their performance should be good, but I would think AMD would charge a premium for them, they have been giving away their graphics cards every since Nvidia came out with their GTX 7X0 series.

Since cost is of great concern to you, this means you may want to wait until AMD's 9000 Maxwell comes out, then buy the Nvidia GTX 770/780 for they most likely will come down in price.

It's really up to you if you want to wait 9 months to a year to buy a GPU. No one can answer that for you. If you dont demand ultra settings and can tolerate 30fps, and keep in mind you can turn down AA due to the high resolution a 770 should be fine.

Read the bench marks. Decide what performance you're happy with. Decide how long you want to wait and how much you want to spend.

Based on some articles, it looks like Maxwell will feature significantly more cuda cores so it will definitely increase performance. At the moment, AMD has the 290X which competes with the 780 and Titan so your best bet is an Nvidia card since the Maxwell cards will be even faster than the 780 Ti. They might be more pricey though since Nvidia dropped prices on the 7xx series to compete with AMD. Since AMD won't have anything close to the 8xx series for a while, Nvidia can charge whatever they want.
