help finding cheap hdd

i think youd be better off getting one 500gb sata hard drive. i say this because unless your system is a few years old, it probably doesnt have IDE interface, but rather SATA.

PATA drives will be slow, and getting multiple refurbished drives increases eh chance of failure. with $40, refurbished is nearly a must, but I strongly recommend a single larger SATA drive.

- larger cache, will be faster

- more capacity, but a bit slower.

either of those solutions will be faster than the Parallel drives, however.

it works, but the WD Blue is generally suggested over the green because of the "energy saving" features build into the Green editions (slower spindle rpm and low power idle). they generally mean slower read times and slower response from your system

ok thanks oh and btw i thought windows was only 20gb

maybe for the 32 bit version, but i had a 60 gb ssd and with windows 7 64bit it was always crowding the drive. that number is also how big it is before you run the updates that the os has been accumulating over the past few years. it will be bigger than 20 gigs after all is said and done.
