I've installed new windows 7 home a couple months ago, coming from XP, I set up backup schedule , I have 2 1TB hard drives 1 is C the other is D, I set backup to save system image to D, but I also have other big files on D such as my music, artwork , but just recently message came up "Backup skipped backing up D:\THE METAL VAULT as it is on the backup target." as far as I know i never added D drive to be backed up.because that is where my system image of C is located/saved, is there a difference between a backup and system image,I would like to include the big music files in D to be backed up but i actually have all those files back up on many many discs, how can i resolve this error? is there a better Free system backup software i can use? is there a way to actually see what is saved in my system image file?

I'm guessing you included the music files on D: as part of your library (ie - they show up in 'my music') and windows wont let you backup to a drive its trying to backup. Besides, backing the the files on drive D: to drive D: isnt backing them up, its just making a 2nd copy of them. If the drive dies both copies are gone...

Get an external drive or nas to backup to if yo dont want the inconvenience of backing up to dvd's. You would need win7 pro or higher to backup to a nas using win7 but most nas's come with some kind of backup utility.

Your right, I noticed that windows media player I added the music file from D to library, and that's when error came up,so it should be ok just to leave that error alone even though its gonna come up every time i open windows? If I buy an external HD I can backup both internal HDs?
